Have owned several fire pistons but the cylinder is too small for reliable ember ignition. This piston is much larger in diameter and gets an ember with little effort. A definite keeper in my fire starting kit.

I purchased the 2nd generation fire piston as a gift for my son in law. I was a little disappointed because when he opened it, there was a loose piece (not sure what) that prevented it from working properly. However, he was able to repair it so it wasn't necessary to return it for a replacement. It now works beautifully and he loves it. I also have to say that I was very impressed by the customer service, so despite the little glitch, I would definitely buy from this company again.

I do a lot of primitive fire building demos all over and when I seen the 2nd generation fire piston I told myself I have got to try on. since my first 2nd generation fire piston I have now 3 of them and I just love them, they are great and works 1st time every time. since I have been doing demo's I have built hundreds of fires w/ the 2nd generation fire piston
